Velocity Truck Rental & Leasing (VTRL) and Trio Host Ribbon Cutting Event to Unveil 47 High-Powered Electric Charging Stations In Southern California.

Fontana, CA, September 25, 2024 – Velocity Truck Rental & Leasing (VTRL), a division of Velocity Vehicle Group, and sustainability and energy advisory company Trio proudly hosted a successful ribbon-cutting ceremony at their Fontana facility on September 24, 2024, to celebrate the official launch of 47 high-powered electric charging stations across Southern California. The event featured speeches from representatives of Velocity Truck Rental & Leasing, Trio, the California Energy Commission, and Southern California Edison, highlighting Velocity's commitment to providing reliable charging for medium- and heavy-duty electric trucks.

The high-powered chargers have been installed at VTRL’s facilities in Rancho Dominguez (17), Fontana (14), the City of Industry (14), and San Diego (2). The newly installed infrastructure comprises 45 120 kW Detroit e-Fill and two ChargePoint chargers. Detroit e-Fill commercial-grade chargers are renowned for their reliability and efficient performance, enabling trucks such as the Class 8 Freightliner eCascadia, Class 6 and 7 Freightliner eM2, and RIZON class 4 to 5 battery-electric cabover trucks to achieve an 80% state of charge in just 90 minutes or less.  The ribbon-cutting event underscored Velocity’s commitment to expanding electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure and making significant strides toward reducing emissions in the freight and logistics sector.

  David is the President of Fleet Logic, LLC dba Velocity Truck Rental & Leasing, a privately owned commercial truck rental and full-service leasing company operating out of the Southwest and Mid-South USA plus British Columbia, Canada. In 2011, he was brought on board as the General Manager where he successfully completed the start-up phase of VTRL and was later promoted to President in 2013.
• Simon Horton, Sr. Director, TE & Clean Energy Projects, Trio
  Simon leads the Trio team developing clean energy projects, including fleet electrification, solar generation, energy storage, and energy optimization. His team develops strategic road maps for clients’ clean energy transitions, manages the engineering and design of projects, and oversees the safe and efficient implementation and construction of these important projects.

  Chanel is responsible for progressing SCE’s vision for a Clean Energy Future through accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles, solar, and battery storage while also supporting grid resiliency through managing and maintaining strong demand response programs.
• Hannon Rasool, Fuel and Transport Division Director, California Energy Commission
  Hannon has over 15 years of experience in the energy industry, including the regulated utility space and government. He has an extensive background in regulatory affairs and electric vehicle infrastructure. His work history includes clean transportation, renewable energy, net metering, energy storage, and distributed energy technologies.
• Erik Neandross, President, Clean Transportation Solutions
  For the last 25 years, Erik has worked with leading truck manufacturers and their dealer networks; large commercial fleet operators; an array of global energy companies, utilities, project developers and fuel providers; and public agencies and other stakeholders to spearhead the development of many of the nation's largest and most important low and zero emission commercial transportation projects.
